Te Kāhui Taiohi o Taranaki Iwi have set the first of three wānanga for 2019, as a continuation of previous Taiohi wānanga which commenced back in December 2017 and throughout 2018, to promote whānaungatanga and learnings, within our iwi space.
Mā wai ēnei wānanga? Who are these wānanga for?
This is for Taranaki Iwi taiohi from the ages of 16 to 40 (but does not exclude)

The second wānanga for 2019 is scheduled for the 27-29 September 2019 at Te Niho o Te Atiawa Parāhuka Marae, Parihaka (south of Pungarehu).

Te Hōtaka The programme
Activities will include historical Taranaki Iwi marae, hapū and iwi kōrero, learning Taranaki Iwi waiata, karakia, and various physical traditional activities that may include poi, mau rākau, mahi toi, hakinakina and an offsite hīkoi (walk). We will be including kōrero on Te Tau o Te Pāhuatanga (coming up in November) and kono making, and Rongoa (traditional Māori medicine). On Sunday we will head to the Novotel Hotel in New Plymouth to participate in the Charter Review & Strategic Plan Hui.
He whakautu? Is there a cost?
There is no cost to attend these wānanga, other than the travel costs to and from the Marae. We are thankful for the support of support TSB Community Trust, and Te Korimako o Taranaki along with Te Kāhui o Taranaki Trust
Te rēhita? Registration?
All attendees must complete a registration form for marae accommodation and catering purposes, either online or by hardcopy. Hardcopy to either be returned via email attachment to angie@taranaki.iwi.nz, post to Te Kāhui o Taranaki PO Box 929 New Plymouth or drop off at the office Cnr Bayly Road and Ocean view Parade, New Plymouth.
