Taranaki Iwi hapū have agreed to a 2-year extension to the temporary fisheries closure along the Western Taranaki coastline under section 186A of the Fisheries Act 1996.
This closure affects the take of all shellfish, seaweed (excluding beach cast), anemones, and Conger Eels (Conger wilsoni and Conger verreauxi) between the Herekawe and Taungatara Streams, covering 234.6 sq km offshore to 2 nautical miles.
